Scuba Diving training

Question
I am really looking to find out where I could go to get certified.  I had done a discover Scuba Diving tour on my last Cruise to the caribbean.  And LOVED it.  Now that I am home I am trying to find somewhere to get certified and am having a hard time.  I live inn Utica, NY.  Do you have any suggestions or know where I could look further?

Thanks for the help.

Marisa

Answer
Hi Marisa,

Congratulations on your decision to pursue your scuba certification!!  Now you know why so many of us are hooked on diving!

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that the Discover Scuba Diving course you took was through PADI.  I say that because that's the same name they use for the same course you took during your last cruise.  PADI is one of several scuba certifying agencies that offer training to divers and provide a certification card as proof of that training.

I went to PADI's website and found a dive shop (Delta Divers) located about 15 miles from Utica in Rome, NY.

You can get information about this and other local PADI dive shops by going to PADI.com and clicking on "Start Diving".  Then click on "local dive center" and enter "Utica".

To be fair, you can also find dive shops under other certifying agencies by Googling "NAUI" or "SSI" and following their links to find dive shops in your area sanctioned by these different agencies.

Marisa, this should get you started on the road to scuba certification.  Who knows, maybe I'll meet you on a future dive trip!!

Have Fun!!
