dacor enduro power inflator

Question
Hi, I recently had the rubber cover on the inflator perish and luckily the dive shop found a cover that fits. Unfortunately the reed that pushes through to the 'shroder'(?) valve has also perished an wont push through far enough to activate inflation and for the sake of this little $2 part I may need to buy a new power inflator unit. As Dacor no longer stock these parts in N.Z was wondering if you know of somewhere/one I can contact to replace the part. Even with the cost of freight it would $$ worth it.  Thanks for your time.

Answer
Val,

I do not know of any companies that will sell parts directly to end users. I suspect that you will need to get a new power inflater.  It will be very difficult to get the little part, and probably isn't worth the time it would take to find a place to procure it.

You do not need to get a Dacor power inflater though.  You could just get a generic power inflater that fits the corrugated BC hose.  Trident SCUBA sells a power inflater for around $20 (last I checked).  You can see it here:

They have a distributor in New Zealand.  Pro Dive New Zealand:

Have your local dive shop contact them.

Another option would be to just find a functioning, used power inflater that fits into the corrugated BC hose.  When I was working in dive shops we always had old parts sitting around from cannibalized older gear for just such an occasion.

One of these two options should take care of your situation.

I hope this helps, but feel free to write back if you need more info.

Thanks,
