High Standard Double Nine W101

2016/7/22 9:04:49

Question
My High Standard Double Nine Revolver is a W101 model. Some websites say this model was made/shipped in 1959, while other sites go by the serial number and suggest that it was made in 1961. The  serial number on this revolver is 1,078,xxx. There were no commas stamped on the gun, I just added them to make it easier for you to read. I could give you the final 3 numbers on the serial if it came right down to those making the absolute difference in your opinion on when this little jewel was made. This revolver was passed down to me when my grandfather died. I do know that he bought it brand new. I also have the original box and papers that came with it. Thank you for your help.

Answer
Hello Gene.
You do have a jewel in the High Standard W-101 revolver. I can refer you to a web site that may help determine the manufacture date. John Stimson has done extensive research on High Standard firearms. His web site is; www.histandard.info/. He has a serial number list that may help you. Thank you for asking for me. Charles Gage
