single action

Question
Dear Charles, I am writing a novel and want to have one of my villains carrying a .45 that needs to be cocked before each shot. I want it to be a cool gun or antique, just need it to be a single action, cock first. Whatchagot? Thanks, Sincerely, Dick Schlueter

Answer
Hello Richard.
The answer to your question is definitely a Colt Model 1873 Single Action Army revolver. If you want to go exotic, What do these movies; Conagher, The Missing, 3:10 to Yuma, and Unforgiven, all have in common? The Smith & Wesson Model 3 Russian revolver. It, too, was a single action revolver manufactured in the 1870's era and used in the west. I think if it was good enough for Sam Elliot, Tommy Lee Jones and Clint Eastwood, it might be worth looking into for use in your novel.
I hope this helps and good luck with your novel. Charles Gage.
P.S. Let me know when you market it. I may be one of your first customers.
