Question
Mr. Zukowski:

My father gave my a Remington rifle. It is engraved: " SPRINGFIELD 30 CAL. 1906. Also engraved EXPRESS 29749.

He said it is a 30-06.

Would that be correct and does the serial(?) number give any clue as to the era of manufacture ?

I appreciate any assistance in increasing my knowledge of this firearm.

Thank you, Steve
