Question
recently purchased several guns.  one was a N>R>Davis and sons from assonet mass.  can't find a serial number or any information on these people
gun is single barrel about 30" long  where can i get more information on this gum. looks to be pretty old. thank you

Hi,
You can't find a serial number as most Davis Guns did not have one.  N.R. Davis was one of many makers of inexpensive shotguns from 1870 to 1917. They made
single and double barrel shotguns.
Many were sold under store brand names for catalog
houses.
Any gunsmith should be able to narrow down in terms of  age.  They need to physically see it.
Not worth much money but  likily shootable
with black powder shot shell.
(not modern smokeless powder ammo)
It should be examined for safety by a gunsmith.
Last I checked Kent and Estate were making black powder shot shells.
