Question
My father died when I was a kid and I have recently got some of his guns from an uncle and was wondering if you might be able to help me date the browning 22 sa lr. The serial number is 8t 97946. the gun is in decent shape and made in Belgium. I was wondering if this is something my son can shoot or if i would be better off putting it in the gun safe. thanks a bunch

Answer
The rifle was made in 1968 (8 preceding the T = 68). As far as shooting it.... If it isn't in mint condition, no box, has some blue wear or several scratches or dings....I would enjoy shooting it with your son. There are a lot of these still available in New in the Box or LNIB.
