Question
Hello,

I recently received a Norma .357mag bullet with a strange projectile/tip.

My question is what kind of tip this is.

Here's a picture:

Answer
What you've got there is a projectile called a wad-cutter. It is a flat nosed projectile designed to punch a nice neat hole in the target, looking not unlike it had been punched by a paper punch. It was a target round used to make targets easy to read.

Although in the 70's some mfgs commercially produced wad-cutter rounds, for the most part if you come across these they have been manufactured non-commercially in someone's home workshop on reloading equipment.
