Question
Hello, I have a Baker Gun Co Batavia Leader 12 Guage SxS that I have inherited from my grandfather. I am in need of a replacement buttstock and think I have found one. However I was told that the Batavia Leader had 2 different buttstocks? I believe mine was Manufatured after Foster Took Over because of the F following the serial number. Do you know if there were in fact 2 different buttstocks for these and if so how to identify them? Thanks for your time.
George

Answer

Yours was made after H.D. Folsom bought the company in 1919.
Most were made by Crescent Arms Co Norwich Ct, after the transitional period.
That what the F means.
Those made before that were marked Baker Gun and Forging Company.
There were 11 variations in Batavia.
I don't have detailed enough reference to tell you about changes in the stock.
