Question
Hello I just bought a Remington 870 12 gauge pump. I went shootign with it and I was using winchester rounds and they would jam my gun. Is there something wrong with my gun I should have checked or is that normal and what kind of rounds do you prefer? I was thinking I should buy reminton rounds but I don't want to waste money till I know for sure because when you buy rounds in arizona your not aloud to return them. Thank you -Greg

Answer
Greg,

Your Remington should not be that picky as far as ammo is concerned.  You might want to make sure that you are not trying to put 3" shells in a shotgun designed for 2 3/4" shells.  That would definitely cause you a problem.  As long as you are cycling the slide action crisply, there should be no issues on extraction.  If the condition persists, you might want to have someone look at the extractors just to be sure they are OK.

Best regards,

Doug Little
