dissasembling gun

Question
We have a Sears Roebuck Ted Williams model 20 12 gauge pump action shotgun and we are having trouble trying to figure out how to dissasemble the gun to put a plug in it so the carrying capacity is 3 shells. Do you have any recomendations on how to do this or where we can find the information at. Thanks

Answer
Hello Kari.

The Sears shotguns were made by a number of different companies such as Winchester, Savage, High Standard, etc. and then sold by Sears under various trade names and model numbers. Many of the Sears shotguns were branded with "JC Higgins" for more than 50 years but then this brand was changed to "Ted Williams" in 1961 as part of an advertising campaign using a baseball star.

Your shotgun was produced by High Standard and they referred to is as the Model 200. Your gun was probably made in the late 1950s but the actual year is hard to determine because some of these guns did not have serial numbers and the factory records were not always preserved.

So to find an instruction manual or parts you need to search for a High Standard Model 200. I did the search for you and found the manual available for free online. Here is the link:

You may also be able to find parts, schematics, and other information by going to the following site and looking under Sears, High Standard, or Ted Williams:

I hope this helps. Good luck!

Bob
