springfield co. 16 gauge

Question
QUESTION: I just recently received my grandfathers shotgun.It has 28 in. barrels,and hasn't been fired in over 5o years.I don't plan on selling it,just wanted to know more about it.Any help would be great.On the side of the breach it say:Springfield Arms Co.
         Chicopee Falls,Mass.USA

On the top of the left barrel,as looking from back to front,it says 16 gauge.The serial number is:T58430.I believe the last digit is a zero,they are not lined up very good

Springfield Arms Co. was a trade name used by Savage/Stevens Arms company from the 1920s to 1948.
It was used on utility grade shotguns and rifles sold at discount houses.
There should be a model name or number on it. Without it I can't ID it.

QUESTION: Thank you for the fast response.There wasn't a model name or number on the gun anywhere.What I found out was that there were three models of that gun available,the Fox,the Stevens, and the one the that I have,the lesser expensive of the three.Here's another one for you:Remington model 30 Express,serial #:10342.Chambered in 30-06.On the left side of the barrel,looking from back to front it says Springfield 30 CAL.1906.On the opposite side it has R.E.P. with a circle around it,a six pointed star,a small circle with a ^ on top of it,an R,a U, and a plus sign all in a straight line.I have seen other ones with serial #'s in the 18,000's,but not as low as mine.Again,I don't plan on selling it,just curious.My mother told me that it might have been used in a war,I don't know how true that to be.Thank you.Any help would be great.

To the best the best of my knowledge there were no guns made in A H Fox, J Stevens, & Springfield
Can you give me a better discription and attach a photo,

Theses were NEW  sporting arms made based on the US Rifle .30 cal M1917.
The M1917 were Americanized version of English Pattern 14 rifle in .303 British.
Basically that had the tooling so produced the rifles.
