value of High Standard Blued and Nickle

Question
Looking for an approximate value of this gun.  High Standard double nine .22LR manufactured in Hamden, Conn.  the barrel, cylinder, hammer and trigger are blued.  The rest of the frame is nickle with plastic pearl grips.  the serial number is 553. there is absolutely no wear on the blueing and this gun appears to have never been used.  I got it from an elderly lady who's husband had passed and she said he collected guns.

Thank you in advance.

Troy

Answer
Hello Troy. The High Standard Double Nine was manufactured between 1958 and 1984. Your revolver was manufactured between 1958 and 1976, since the High Standard Mfg Company was located in Hamden,CT. until it was moved to East Hartford, CT in 1977. There were a variety of combinations i.e. blue steel barrel with nickle silver frame, nickle silver barrel with blue frame,etc.etc..as in the case of your revolver. The serial numbers were not "set in stone", so to speak, as some were issued to certain combinations of cosmetics. As such, the ser.#553 may have have been issued to several different Double Nine revolvers.I have not been able to find any ser.#'s even close to three digits in there regular stock production. This is where the different numberings come in. You have an incredible revolver. It was a well made revolver. As for a value, in the condition you describe, it could be in the range of $200-$300. I hope this helps answer your question and thank you for asking for me. Charles Gage
