Question
I have a 1911A1 Ithaca US Army handgun - Serial number 2001502.
I would like to find some one to appraise this gun for me.  Can you tell me where to get an appraisal

Answer
Any reputable gunshop should be able to do it for you. The standard in the industry to judge gun values is Fjestad's Blue Book of Gun Values. What you need an "expert" for is to appraise the gun in terms of finish and mechanical soundness.

Your gun will fetch a different price in 50% condition than it will in $100 condition. Matching SN will fetch more than a gun assembled from parts. If the gun was refinished that will diminish its value and so forth.

You can buy a copy of the Fjestad (expensive though)and appraise it yourself, but unless you know how to tell if the gun has been refinished, how to judge the finish, etc. you're going to want an expert to look at it in person.
