Question
I own a Winchester 30-06, Model 70, Sprg. Serial Number 218573. Can you tell me when it was made and a guess at it's value.  Thanks

Answer
Hello Troy Evans. Your Winchester Model 70 in caliber .30-06 Serial #218573 was manufactured in 1952. You ask for a value. On a scale from 60% to 90%, your rifle is valued between $500.00 and $750.00. Most in very good condition would rate 90%. Any alterations in wood or metal(shortened stock, after market recoil pad,re-bluing) can reduce these figures.
Just a bit of history, Collectors put the Model 70 into three categories: Pre-War(1936-1941). Transition(1946-1948) and Latter(1949-1963). The .30-06 made up approximately 80% of all Model 70's manufactured. I hope this answers your question and thank you for asking for me.Charles Gage
