Glock Barrel & reload

2016/7/22 9:17:04

Question
I read you recent item in regards to reloading for the .40. I have two questions. Is the barrels you recommend drop in parts or do they require fitting ? 2) I've used VV n320 & 180 jhp for shootng Limited, have you any recommendations for the proper formula , (suggestions & close are good) to use my already purchased items to make a minor power factor(125) for a Glock 35 , thanks

Answer
John,

I don't recall what barrels I've recommended, but KKM and Lone Wolf are good, and the Lone Wolf you can get for under $100. These are both drop in. I've never seen them require any fitting, and you should have no problem ("should" being the emphasized word).

I'm afraid I've been away from reloading for about ten years now. Low ammo prices and $8/100 9mm made reloading a bad economy, but now that things have changed, I've dusted off my Dillon again. Unfortunately, I've got about 15 pounds of Bullseye I have to use up, which I'm mostly doing for practice loads because the very high burn rate makes me nervous to drive anything too fast.

I don't have a specific load to give you. Fifteen years ago when I shot a .40 in competition, I had a load that used 155 gr plated bullets and Bullseye, but would never recommend the formula I used then today.

The W230 is a very popular powder, but when I buy new powder, it will be the Power Pistol. Other reloaders that I talk with and who shoot the IPSC circuit (not my game, btw - I shoot IDPA) seem to like this a lot for burn rate compatible with auto cartridges, mild recoil, and low muzzle flash.

The long barrel of the G35 will aid your muzzle velocity and with 180 gr bullets, you only need about 695 fps to make 125, a velocity that should be easy to achieve with just about any powder.

Good luck to you.
