Question
QUESTION: I have a Browning Magnum Twenty with serial # 7X5446 it has a vented with a poly choke any chance that this is the original barrel? If not what do you think the chances are of getting an original barrel? What is the gun worth with the barrel it currently has/
Thanks

ANSWER: John,

There are barrels available at the Tulsa Arms Show usually. It's just a matter of finding them. You might check some of the gun websites such as Gunsamerica, Gunbroker, Auction Arms or even E-bay.
Value all depends on condition. Without the gun in hand it is hard to give an estimate.

QUESTION: What about the barrell I currently have ,were these guns ever produced with poly chokes?

Answer
I don't beleive they came from Fabrique Nationale with poly chokes unless it was a special order, but I could be wrong. As far as I know they would have been added at the Browning shop in St. Louis or by a aftermarket dealer/gunsmith.

If you unscrew the polychoke out as far as it will go. Look for a number stamped usually in front of the front sight just ahead of the end of the barrel. If the number is 11 then it was installed by Browning. If it is a number 4 it was the FN dealer number. Each number represents a an authorized dealer who were permitted to install the choke. Hope this helps.
