riverside arms 12GA side by side

2016/7/22 9:20:12

Question
I have from my Dad a riverside side arms 12GA S by S and I can not locate any info on it.  I do not want to know the price ( It was passed down from my Dad and there isn't enough gold @ Ft. Knox for it ) but I would like to know about how old it is.  On the left side, there is the company name and patent date of 17 April 1917.  Thank you for any assistance that you can provide.

Answer
Hello John, The Riverside Arms Co. was in business in the late 19th and early 20th century. The Co. was acquired by J. Stevens ( which is now a division of Savage Arms) Prior to
WW II. I believe they continued to use the Trade Name until the early 1950s. You might be able to get more detailed information by contacting the Stevens Arms Historian. I hope this has been of some help.
