Ithaca Model 72

2016/7/22 9:20:56

Question
I have a Ithaca Model 72 22 mag lever action gun.  I have been told that they were made in short supply.  I was wondering if you knew any history about this gun and if indeed it is rare gun.

Answer
Hansel,

The M72  Saddlegun was manufactured from 1973 to 1979 and was available in .22LR or .22mag. It was actually manufactured by Erma Co. in Germany.

I cannot verify "short supply" however based upon the number of years of production, it is no doubt in "limited supply". I cannot however quantify "rare" in this rifle.

The rifle in "good" condition has an approximate retail value of $200 to $225.
