Question
I have a ranger double barrel, double trigger shotgun that was my grandfathers. it has 30 in. barrels and fixed chokes. mod. and full. it is stamped Precision Grade 104.3, He bought it in the 30s. All origonal unfinished. I shoot trap with it once a month. iwas told it might have been made by Hunter Arms. What do you think?

Answer
Hi Robert,

My information is that indeed Hunter Arms was at least one of the many manufactures of Ranger shotguns which of course was the trade name for Sears shotguns.

I can document other 104.3's in the Ranger model that were manufactured by Hunter Arms (which is a story in itself). The issue that arises is that there were dozens of manufactures that made various Sears model shotguns.

However that said, I cannot locate any information of any of the Ranger double barrel 104's being made by any company other than Hunter Arms.

In good condition they seem to be retailing for less than $200.

Thanks for the question.
