Question
hi,
I'm looking for a page that can run a scan of the serial# of a gun i am looking in to buying the gun is very old (1911 pump-action .22 rifle) and i would like to know if the antique is stolen. If you know of such a page please e-mail me.
Thanks,
Dustin

Answer
Hi Dustin,

In my experience the sites that even suggest that they can accomplish this for you to begin with, charge a fee and in my opinion are less than 100% So, don't concern yourself with trying to locate such a "page".

If you are buying from a licensed dealer and having the required checks run, you should have little to concern yourself with.

If buying from a private owner you can obtain the serial number, make, model etc. and try checking with A.T.F. and/or your local law enforcement agency. If the firearm does not have a serial number (or other identifying marks) you will be hard pressed to find out any info.

Thanks for the question Dustin.
