Permit for gun transportation?

2016/7/22 9:22:53

Question
I have lived in Pennsylvania (Pike County) for 10 years and I have a handgun. Do I need a permit to carry the handgun from home to the shooting range in the car?

Answer
I've lived in North Carolina now for 16 years, but I think the PA law is the same as it was when I used to live there (but you should verify with a local authority, to make sure).

When I lived in PA, if you didn't have a carry permit, you could only transport a handgun to the range with it unloaded and in a locked glove box, in the trunk, or in a container that is not readily accessible (such as in a locked box on the back seat).

Hope this helps!

Dave
