Is this rare?

I have the chance to purchase a J.C. Higgins model 583.23 bolt action multy-choke 12gauge shotgun, for $120.00.
I would appreciate any help in finding the history of this model.

It was made by Hi Standard for Sears.
Its the Hi Standard Model 10 shotgun.
Its not rare and $120 is $50 more than its worth.
Many of the J.C. Higgins model 583 series of shotguns were recalled Sears due to safety concerns.

583.23 was not on the list but I would be leary of any
of the models in the series.
If you want a bolt action look for a Mossberg Model 195
or a Marlin Model 55.  You should be able to buy one for $75 or less.
