Singleshot rifle opinion.

2016/7/22 9:23:21

Question
what are some of your opinions on good singleshot rifles for accuracy and distance(300+yrds.) for medium to large game? and is there really a difference in accuracy between singleshot and bolt action rifles(generally speaking of course)?

Answer
Single shot hunting rifles are not really my areas of expertise.  However, I don't think a well-built bolt gun will be inferior to a single shot rifle, and would have the advantage of faster follow up shots.

I have at the moment a Remington 700 LTR that will shoot into 3/8" @ 100 yards all day long.  Since adequate hunting accuracy is measured in inches rather than fractions, any of the newer bolt guns from Remington, Winchester, Ruger, or the high-end mfg should do what you need.

If you have your heart set on a single shot rifle, however, you'd be better to check with other experts at the site.  I've not ever had much use for one, and don't know much about them.
