how to break down and clean old slide action

Question
Rod,

I have inherited an old savage model 29 slide action .22 caliber rifle and although I am not very gun savvy, I am very interested.  My question is do you know where I could get step by step instructions on how to break down and clean my particular gun and where I could get more information about it.

Sincerely,
J Becker

Answer
Howdy,

I don't know enough about these actions to say anything so I'll offer the best source I can think of: http://www.savagearms.com/

Make sure you send them the serial number, with the last two digits "x"'d out in case the mechanicals changed over several years.

I hope that helps! -Rod-
