Iver Johnson revolver.

Question
QUESTION: Hello. I have a .32 S&W Iver Johnson revolver in a very poor condition. I'm not sure what model it is and I can't take pics at this time (but if you do require them to tell me what model it is I will take pics later on) and I was hoping you could tell me when it was manufactured and some info on the basics of the gun, such as maintenance tips and what not. I am looking into restoring it and if it's a third model then I'd like to shoot it. I live in a very gun-unfriendly country and so finding such a gun here is extremely rare and valuable.
Thank you for your time.

ANSWER: Hello Jose Diaz.
I will need two things from you. Is it a 'hammer' or 'hammerless'. And what is the serial number? You will need to carefully remove the grip plates. On the left side of the frame under the grip plate, there will be an 'alpha-numeric' serial number. I will need the alphabet(A,B,C,D, etc. followed by the number). Please send me a close-up of both the complete top and opened(to put the cartridges in) cylinder. This should help me identify it. Thank you for asking for me. Charles Gage

I don't necessarily need pictures, since you should take it to a qualified, licensed gunsmith before you shoot it. And DO NOT TAKE IT APART! Parts are somewhat difficult to find. Charles

QUESTION: Haha, sorry Charles, it was delivered to me already dissasembled and missing parts from the firing mechanism (I didn't expect less, my dad found it in a pile of old junk while looking for some of his old stuff, who knows how many years it's been there). I already am looking into websites that offer the parts to get them imported, so if you could give me a list of the pieces, references or something like that I'd be really thankful. I will take it to a gunsmith later on after I clean it a bit more (it's rusted as hell, and this is also the reason I can't take pics, I'm getting the rust removed and stuff).

Anyway, as for the revolver, it's a hammer, serial is G99884, it's got the double post latch, four pins between the trigger guard and the cylinder, I noticed the hammer spring is a regular one, not the one that's a metal bar kind of spring, and the grip frame has a division in the middle, above the serial number.

Answer
Hello, again, Jose Diaz.
Your revolver was manufactured in 1925. Numrich (www.gunpartscorp.com) has schematics for it. I recommend making a shadow box for it and hang it on the wall. You can pick one of these up on AuctionArms.com or Gunbroker.com for less than $125, ready-to-shoot. One in your condition may not be worth repairing, nor would it be safe to shoot. Here are a few companies that buy guns for parts: gun-parts.com ; hoosiergunparts.com ; brownells.com ; gunpartscorp.com. There are others you can find. Charles Gage
