Speed, weight and size are the three main factors of ammo.  Fastest, heaviest and biggest,  since you have a .38 your size is set so you can only change speed and weight of bullet. So the heaviest and fastest bullet is best. Hollowpoint over ball, so do your research and decide on price and speed and weight and  pick  your bullet.
