Selling an Inherited Firearm in Pennsylvania: Legal Requirements

Question
I have a firearm that I inherited.  I'm a fly-fisherman and my wife hates the idea of a weapon (of this type) in the house.  I've decided to sell it.  My question:  Do I need to show the death certificate from the gun's former owner when I sell it?  Currently, it is not registered to me.  Should I have the gun registered to me before I sell it? I live in PA and want this all to be done by the book.  Thanks

Answer
I an not a fan of selling guns, especially if it is nice and comes from a family member with history.  With that said, Unless a gun is reported stolen there is no problem about registration in most states. A local Law Enforcement would be better for this question, or visit or call your local gun stores and ask them they have to know all the local laws. By calling many gun stores you can get approx value and can compare what each one tells you to get a better answer.

I am not a fan of getting Gov involved since it always ends up with fees, taxes, red tape and hassles, so how you do it is up to you.  I don't know PA law so can't help in that area.
