Concealed Weapon License application....

Question
Hi,

I am a resident of the state of Florida and I recently sent in my application for Concealed Weapon License. About 13 years ago I was arrested for a felony but was not convicted/found guilty. Will this have any affect on my application?

Thank you very much for any input.

-Mike

Answer
Mike,

Florida's laws are very similar to Arizona's.  You can get a CCW as long as you have not been convicted of a felony.  Since you did not say, I am assuming that you did not plead 'no contest' at your trial or that you were found 'not guilty'.  Assuming there was no felony conviction, the arrest record may slow down the approval process, but in my opinion, it should not prevent you from getting your permit.

Please understand that I am not a lawyer.  I am not licensed to practice law in Florida and therefore cannot give you legal advice.  I am just providing you with my personal opinion based on what you have told me and my understanding of Florida CCW laws.

I hope this answers your question...

Best regards,

Doug Little
