Identifying a Small .22 Caliber Revolver: Possible Spanish Origin

Question
i have what appears to be a small 22 cal pistol, fold down trigger, hammerless, has marking on right side high on frame just in front of cylinder. a star over the initials A Q over a quarter moon.  just ahead of that is a mark on the barrel of a star with the initials P  V....can you id this gun.

Answer
Hello Kit. The best I can tell is that your revolver was made in Eibar, Spain. The proof marks you describe, especially the star over the AQ over the crescent moon, represent a blackpowder proof mark for shotguns made in Eibar,Spain. This revolver was referred to as a Saturday Night Special. This type of revolver was generally worn by prostitutes in a garter holster on the upper part of the thigh. The guns I found were 3 7/8" overall length with a 1 3/8" long barrel. Not much to go on, but I hope this helps and thank you for asking for me. Charles Gage
