Oklahoma Law: Concealed Carry & Loaded Shotguns in Vehicles

Question
Hi,
I have my concealed carry permit and Oklahoma.  Is it legal for me to carry a loaded shotgun in my vehicle or does the law that says it has to be unloaded also apply to CCW holders?  Thanks for your help

Answer
Hi Tye.

I don't live in OK and I am not an attorney so I can't give you a direct answer. Firearms laws vary significantly from one state to the next and they change often so you need to consult your local state code. Here is a link which should help:

If you don't want to read through all the laws and interpret the legal speak then just call a local attorney or your county bar association and ask for a free referral. Or call the local state police and they will usually tell you.

In my opinion it would be dangerous and probably illegal in most states to carry a loaded shotgun in the vehicle. A CCW may or may not cover it depending on how your state defines their CCW laws.

Good luck!

Bob
