1976 Drug Arrest & NJ CCP Eligibility: What You Need to Know

I have received arecord from NJ on an arrest in 1976 for possession of a small amount of pot. How can I tell of this is going to prevent me from getting a ccp? Fine was 75.00 I can't tell if it is a felony or not. I served 20 years in the AF since then. If it is not a felony, can I still get a permit?

You should really be asking an attorney this question.  Since I am not an attorney, I can't give you legal advice.  If you are asking my opinion, you were not convicted of a felony.  Felonies result in serious jail time, not $75 fines.  Since you didn't tell me where you live, I can't say whether or not this will affect your ability to get a concealed weapons permit.

If you live in Arizona it would not, but in a place like NJ it is almost impossible to get a concealed carry permit even if you have a clear criminal record.  In most states that are 'shall issue', meaning they can't withhold the permit if you meet all the state requirements, you should not have a problem.

If you live in a state with more restrictive firearms laws, it may be a disqualifier.

If you give me a little more info (like where you live or where you want to get a permit), I could probably be much more helpful...
