Belgium Browning BAR 30.06: Value & Ownership Advice

Jim - I just bought a BAR 30.06 with BAR1M297 @ auction wanted to know more about it.  Is it rare? Should I shoot it (new in box)?

Is this a Belgium made rifle? I cannot tell by the number you provided. Assuming it is, I would hold onto it and find one that has been shot some. The NIB stuff will usually hold the value much better than used. Assuming it is a grade 1 Belgium rifle it isn't all that rare, but the NIB makes a difference. Hope this helps.
