German Flare(?) Pistol

Question
I have a small but heavy pistol with wooden grips, intact and operable inner spring, and a sliding ring on the barrel that slides to the front after setting the spring. It has sights on it, and is marked "Hubertus Germany D.R. G.M. <  > on it. It was given to me in 1964 as a WWI flare gun, but looks more modern than that period. Any info and value help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Dan,

There is virtually no information on your flare or Very pistol.  Hubertus was a trade name for Inman, Meffert Gewehrfabrik in Suhl, Germany.  They were a manufacturer of sporting arms between 1839 and 1945.  The markings DRGM are a patent mark that was used in pre-War Germany.  It would seem that the gun you have should fall into the period around WWI.  I seem to also recall that Hubertus was acquired by or merged with the Czech firearms manufacturer, CZ in the early 1920s.

I have absolutely no idea of the value.  None of the usual sources apply here...

Sorry I can't be of more assistance...

Regards,

Doug
