Browning Light Twelve Shotgun: Year, Value & Safety Information
Question
My step-son has a Browning Light Twelve, gold trigger, made in Belgium on the barrel. SN 69G over 96017. I am trying to find out the year, safety with modern shells and approx value. It is in very good operating condition with some small amount of pitting in the bluing on barrel and grip area. His father left it to him and I don't want him to sell too cheap or get hurt using it. The barrel states "2 3/4 inch special steel on the opposite side.
Answer
Bill,
Your Light Twelve was made in 1969. IF the barrel is marked made in Belgium, DO NOT shoot steel shot thru it, lead only. You can try to purchase a Japanese made Auto 5 barrel and shoot steel thru it. As far as value, it is hard to determine without seeing it in person. I suggest you refer to the blue book of gun values.
