VZ-24 shoots high

Question
Hi Paul,
I have an 8 mm. Czech VZ-24, marked 1937, completely original. It shoots significantly high even with the rear sight adjusted all the way down. Approximately 6 or 8 inches high at 200 yards. The bore seems good and I can't see any damage at the muzzle. Can you help me with the possible cause and a solution to this problem. Thanks, Martin.

Answer
The Mauser has a "battlefield 0" of 1-300 yards hence you're shooting high. You need a higher front sight, however the Mauser doesn't have a standard dovetail. Lyman makes sights with a german mauser dovetail.  Order the highest sight you can, install it, shoot and then file  down the sight to shoot good, with your rear sight at it's lowest setting so you still have play. Thanks for your question.
