Identifying Your Double Barreled 12 Gauge Shotgun - Folsom/Crescent Arms?

Question
i have a sxs double barr. 12 ga. the stock is straight like old english fowling piece. the sidelocks have HJ Sterling but there is nothing else implying a manufacture i'm courious that maybe this shotgun was manufactured by Folsom Arms or cresant arms i thought maybe you could inform me. thank you for your time Bill Meeks

Answer
Hi Bill.

Your shotgun appears to be manufactured or distributed by H D Folsom, Crescent, or Crescent-Davis after both companies merged.  It would depend on the exact year it was manufactured so there is no way to tell for sure.  Value is probably quite low and it might not be safe to shoot so it would be best just to keep it above the fireplace for a discussion item.  Here is a link with more detail on the old shotguns including those marked H J Sterling:

You can also find some info about firearms companies here:

Hope this helps.
