Essex Gun Works 410 Double Barrel: History, Value & Identification
Question
i have an old 410 double barrel the name is essex firearms co. there is no model number i was wanting to know prices or anything else about this gun
Answer
Russell,
Essex was actually known as Essex Gun Works and was a trade name used by the Crescent Davis Firearms Co. on shotguns made for the Belknap Hardware Co. of Louisville,KY.
Value is a bit difficult to say for sure due to it being a trade name/hardware store gun. Also Crescent-Davis made a dozen or more versions of these guns.
Further it would depend upon which model variation it is.IE, Damascus, boxlock, hammerless, double-triggers, single trigger, etc.
Based upon the limited information available I would guess your gun to be a standard grade hammerless hinged action double barrel. As such, it would have a retail value of around $150 to $250.
Thanks for the question Russell.
