How Old Is It!!!

I Found  a old shotgun,on the top it reads,

patten aplied for
Falls arm co.Chicopee Falls Mass.

And on the the side it reads NITRO SPECIAL,I think it might be a 12ga,it does not say.But i was trying to find out how old it might be.Any help would be appricated

I do not know what the circumstances are of your "finding" the shotgun but caution is suggested as to possession and usage. It may or may not be safe to shoot with modern ammo. I would have it inspected by a qualified gunsmith prior to attempting to fire said shotgun. A gunsmith will also be able to determine the gauge for you.

That said, the "Falls Arms Co." firearms were made by J.Stevens Arms Co. of Chicopee Falls Mass. from 1886 to 1916.

The retail value in "good" condition would be $75 to $100.
