hunting shotgun TURKEY & DEER BARREL COMBO

Question
I've been thinking about taking up hunting.  Though I do plenty of target shooting with an AR15 for fun, I don't know much about about hunting rifles and shotguns.  I'm interested in hunting hogs, dear, turkey, and other birds.  I'd like to try and limit the number of rifles/shotguns I need to own.  So, I was thinking about the Mossberg combo barrels.  What's your take on combo barrels?  And, in general, what are the pros/cons of using a slug for deer hunting?  Thanks, Ed

Answer
If you take up hunting with a shotgun the Mossberg system in model 500 is very versitile.
Well made and even can convert to a muzzle loader.
I have 3 Mossberg 500s; a 12 ga, 16ga and 20ga.
I have 15000 rounds through my 12 ga.
In terms of slugs the rifled slug barrel give close to rifle accuracy in shotgun out 100 yards. It will hit very hard.
It is limited by short range. If your shots are over open country then a rifle will be needed.
Also you will need to check local law on what is required. In some areas buckshot is required.
A 12 gauge can take care of most woodland hunters needs.
