old skis and bindings

Question
I found a pair of old skis, 7' in length, wood with steel edge protectors, kandahar cable bindings, and markings on back (anton - markel - weissenborn - luphemin)  as best I can make out.  I found some stuff on kandahar cable bindings, invented in 1930, can't find anything else about the skis.  Any information you can share with me about these skis.  Thanks. George

Answer
Hey George,

I'm really sorry that I don't have much information for you. Steel edges were invented around 1927 but didn't really become the norm for skis until after the 1930 Olympics where Austrian skiers used them and won all the skiing events. Your skis could date back to the 30's but I don't know how you would be able to verify it. I was also unable to find any information on the markings you mention. Wish I could be more help.

Keep on skiing,
Windlover
