Question
I am 6'2" and I weigh 165 pounds. I guess I'm an intermediate skier and I would like to know what size of skis to buy? Thank you

Answer
Dear Travis --

Unfortunately, I cannot tell you what length to buy, because the length you need for your weight and skiing style will be determined by the brand and design of ski you buy.

Since you are na intermediate skier and probably wish to get better, I recommend an advanced intermediate ski with a "super-sidecut" design.  These skis will help you learn to carve your turns (turn smoothly on your edges without chatter or skidding).  The right length in a super sidecut ski will be shorter than a traditional ski length.  You should buy the ski length based on your weight and how aggressively you ski, not on your height.

I recommend finding a good ski shop in your area and discussing which skis they recommend for you.  You might want to rent a few different brand and designs of skis to see which style you like before you buy.

Please write back, if you have additional questions, or have narrowed down you selections and what advice on a particular ski.
