boots to buy and skis to demo

Question
Dear Windlover,
For Christmas this year my family and I are going to Steamboat Colorado to ski. I am tired of rental and demo boots and just recently went to an active endeavors to try on boots. I decided that i like the technica entryx 7.0's the best. They are currently priced at $250, is this a good buy. For your informations i am an advanced intermediate that likes to ski powder and blacks. Would these boots be what I am looking for? On to my second question. When in Steamboat i plan to demo the Salomon pocket rockets, i have heard from my avid skiing relatives that the pocket rockets are a really fun ski. Wondering what imput you could give me on the topic of renting these? Are there any pros or cons to the ski?
Thank you very much for your help.

Sincerely Neil McGarvey

Answer
Hey Neil,

You won't go wrong with a Technica boot. The MSRP is $350 so $100 off is a good a good deal. They are an intermediate to advanced boot and should work well for you.

Not real familiar with the Salomon pocket rockets but if you are going to demo skis, do a little research on similar types and try to test as many as you can. Many rental shops will allow you to use a pair for half day and then try something else. There are plenty of shops to choose from right at the base of the mountain at Steamboat so shop around for the one that will work with you for a good price and allow you to try various brands. You may be able to work out a multi-day deal also.

You will love Steamboat. It is a great place to ski and the area is lots of fun. The bus system is free and will get you anywhere you want to go.

Have a great time,
Windlover
