Trouble turning on quads

Question
Hi I am a chubby 45 year old woman who started skating 5 months ago on inline skates to help with giving up smoking. Even though I was terrified I have managed to master the basics and bought some quads recently as I would like to learn to dance a bit. I have bought supreme turbo 33 with 78 a wheels. My problem is that my left foot pulls severely to the right I have tried loosening the trucks but this doesn't help I really love the feeling of quads and am much happier skating on one leg etc but find this problem a nuisance also only intend to skate inside on quads so could you recommend a wheel that would not see me break my neck but doesn't stick like glue to the rink. I am seriously addicted to skating and have developed a serious obsession.
Many thanks fit your help

Answer
Hi Jenny,
There could be a couple reasons why your left skate pulls the right.
      1)  The plate is mounted incorrectly
      2)  The cushion on your trucks are not seated correctly
      3)  No offense but it could be the way you're skating.

I'll expand on #3:  We all have a favorite side and all the maneuvers we try to do will be more natural on that side.  It could be that your right side is your favorite side and getting to the left will take more work on your part.

In order to balance and maintain a good edge you need to "rockover" when pushing from one skate to the other.  When you push to your right skate, leaning to the right could possibly be more natural than when you push to your left skate.  Next time you skate, try this little experiment:

Balance on your right skate and look to see if your nose and belly button are over your   right skate.  That's what makes you balance.  Now try to balance on your left skate.  If you have rocked over completely (leaning to your left skate)your nose and belly button should be over your left skate.  If not........this could be your problem.  It takes practice since leaning to the left may not be easy for you.

If this doesn't work, then I would have someone look at your skate to see if something is actually wrong with the skate.

As for new wheels?  The wheels you have are very soft and grip far to much for indoor skating.  I would suggest either of these wheels:  Bones 62mm -98A   or  Bones Elite  62mm -101A.  The higher the "A" number the harder the wheel which creates less traction.  I would not go below a 98A hardness nor would I go above a 101A hardness because then they become slick.

When you research wheels you'll find the Bones 62mm - 98A are quite a bit less expensive than the 62mm- 101A wheels.  For learning dances the 98A would be perfect for you.  If you were to compete, then I'd suggest the 101A.

I hope this information has helped you a little bit.  Good Luck and enjoy your skating.
