Aggressive skates

Question
QUESTION: Hi i have a pair of Valo TV2 aggressive skates the biggest pair they do. I have a problem in that the right skate fits perfectly but my left foot is slightly wider than my right. This is causing some pressure on the side of my foot near the big toe where you would get a bunion. Can you suggest anything that might help, so my left skate would fit better and i can skate in comfort.

Thanks

ANSWER: Hi Chris,
You can try a couple things to make the toe area a little wider for your left skate.  Sometimes if you wear a damp sock when you skate, that will soften the boot and stretch it out enough to feel comfortable.   Because this skate has a fabric boot it should work but don't dampen the whole sock.  Only dampen the toe area then lace them snuggly and skate for a while.

Or you could try just spraying a little water inside the boot where it's to tight.  Then skate in them to try to stretch it out.

If you have a shoe stretcher, you could try that also.

If none of those work, take the boot to a shoe repair shop.  They have a special tool that can bump out a particular spot on the boot.

I think first try spraying a little water inside the boot where it's to tight, then skate.  You need to skate long enough to build up some heat and sweat for it to start stretching.

Good Luck.....I'm sure one of the suggestions will help.

QUESTION: Hi Pat,
Thank you for your reply but the problem is the boot is not made from leather it is only the skin on the outside of the skate that is leather. The skate is actually a plastic shell with a liner inside, so i don't think any of your suggestions would help with these skates. Can you think of anything else that might help with a plastic shell and a liner.

Thanks for the help

Answer
I'm sorry Chris, I didn't realize they had the plastic shell.

I do know some skates are made of a plastic that can be heat molded but not sure if these can be.  I would probably contact the company who makes them.  They'll be able to give you some suggestions and let you know if heat molding is possible.

I'm sorry I couldn't help you more. I hope they can solve it for you.
