Changing the Wheels

Question
Hi Pat,  My son needs new wheels on his blades and we were going to use the old bearings but don't know how to remove them from the old wheels.  Can you help with that?  Thanks, Laura

Answer
Hi Laujra,
I wouldn't try to remove them by yourself because you could damage the bearings.  You really need a bearing press which all roller rinks have.

If you're buying your new wheels at a roller rink they may remove the old bearings and put the new ones in for free.  If you bought the new wheels somewhere else you can still have the rink remove the bearings and press them into the new wheels but they will charge you a small fee, I'm sure.

It's really best to let them do it.  Removing the bearings can be done at home with a risk of damaging them but you'd never get the bearings back in the new wheels correctly.  So I would suggest you find a local roller rink and they'll gladly do it for you.

If I can help with anything else, feel free to write again.

Pat
