dance sessons in florida

Hi Pat, I am retired from 30 yrs of skating, since 2000 from dance skating competitions. Moved from the rinks in pa,nj, del,ny. Looking for a rink that may offer some dance skating for social times and have some organ music.My last competitive partner was Dave Paden an organist in Pa....I live near the panhandle now in nw florida. Called Gainsville rink and they do not offer dance sessons. Any help would be appreciated......sandy campbell

Hi Sandy,
  What a funny coincidence, Yesterday I sent Dave an order for his latest CD.  And a couple weeks ago, I was teaching a dance that he had written.

  Florida has quite a few organ sessions.  Here's a list that I have in hopes that the info is still current.  I'm not sure how close any of these are to you but being an ex- competitor, driving distances is not unusual, right?

  I'm sure if you go to one of these you will run into people you know and they can perhaps recommend something that might be even closer to your home.  

  Glad to hear your still skating and now can enjoy the social end of our skating world.

Semoran Skateway, (407)834-9106, 2670 Casslecreek Blvd (off Rte 436 in Casselberry, Fl features  a Tuesday Morning live organ music session from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The rink has a beautiful wood floor and the Moyer family does a great job keeping the rink spotless. Admission price is $5 and includes a beverage at snack time.

Skate Reflections, (407)846-8469, at the corner of Dyer Rd. and Rte 192 in Kissimmee, FL features Roller Skater's Gazette organists--Nick Viscuso with live organ music on every Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., admission price is $5 and includes a beverage at snack time. Kissimmee has a beautiful wood floor.   

Generations Skating Center, 2095 Andrea Lane, Ft Myers, FL 33912,  (239) 482-7199 or (239) 482-7789, features 3 organ music sessions:  Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:45 a.m. ?12:15 p.m. for ages 21 and older, admission is $5.00, and Sunday evenings from 6:30 ?9:00 p.m., admission is $5.00.  

Galaxy Roller Rink, (321)242-0789 , 1488 Aurora Rd. Melbourne, Florida features Friday mornings from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with dance tapes and CD's played.  The last half hour of the session is all dance. Admission is $5 and includes a beverage.  It's probably best to call for directions -- can be reached from either I95 or Rte 1.

Spinnations Skating Center, 8345 Congress St., Port Richey, Florida features a Sunday Evening Artistic Dance Session...Doors open 6:30 pm   Organist - Mr. Jack Greer    DANCE MUSIC - 7:PM to 9:30 PM  Admission - $6.00  Spectators - $3.00     Fresh Coffee Included
