Getting started!

Question
Hi, I'm 52 years old, have skated years ago but have developed a late life interest in skating again.  Have some sneaker skates, the type that you can flip out the wheels from under the sneakers.  They are really fun, dual purpose skates.  Problem is I can't seem to gain any momentun, always have to "push off" with one foot.  Can you give me a clue about how to actually roll along without having to push off all the time?  Thanks so much for your time!

Answer
Hey Ronnie, I dont know if I can answer this question because I havent used these skates before. I will offer you a suggestion and you can see if it fits. When those types of skates first came out they werent very well made. When you put the pressure of an adult weight on the filmsy structure of the skate, they wouldnt roll anywhere. I dont know if they are better made now but that may still be the case. I would recommend inspecting the skate very closely. Does it look sturdy enough? You might want to try out or rent a pair of recreational skates and see if you have the same problem. It may not be you, it may be the skates. Good luck!
