remount bindings

Question
Hi, bought a used pair of K2 (712t) skis for my daughter. They were a great deal, however when I got them home I noticed the Salomon S647 rear bindings were cracked. I found an identical pair on eBay (god I LOVE eBay)and want to purchase and remount. My big question, is it OK to use the existing mounting holes over again ? Cant tell what the core of this ski is but it looks like its glass reinforced. Can I use epoxy when installing the hardware to reinforce the screws. Some background, skis will be used by a 12 year old, 105 pounds, beginner skier. What do you think ?

Thanks !
Wayne

Answer
Hi Wayne and thanks for the question.
The bindings need to be the correct DIN for your daughter for them to be appropriate.
The DIN is the international ratio setting the adetermines when the binding comes off in a fall.
Make sure the numbers on the binding you have are the same on the eBay model - but only if you had the bindings checked to be the correct setting. Often we dont get kids weighed and measured going into a new season.

The ski sore will be either wood, foam or a monocoque meaning same material throughout the ski. It will be the fibreglass/resin coating you percieve as glass.

As for re-drilling - it is better to remount bindings as there could be damage to the plugs that are already in place. Old holes need to be filled as well.

Id suggest, because you have saved money on the bindings - take them to your ski shop to be re-mounted properly because the risk of injury isn't worth it really.
