boot bindings

Question
Hi Lisa. I am a alpine style ckimber and search and rescue in the csacades of Wash state. I would like to keep the versatility of wearing my plastic climbing boots while learning to CC ski. IE my goal is to always wear my plastics doing any winter activity. Is there a binding that will allow me to achieve this goal? Do you reccomend doing this? I have done some research and realize as I start out I will be in to probably 200 cm skis that are 85+ mm wide with semi metal edges and non waxable. I like back packing and would like to do trips in the winter and want to try something besides snow shoes. I am a true beginner. Thanks for any help you can offer.
Tim.

Answer
sorry for the delay - am away for uni at the moment.

sounds like what you're after is a touring ski.
with either skins or scales. you'll need metal edges.

they have a binding that release so you can walk uphill or telemark style ski, as well as the ability to lock in so you can then alpine ski.

prices and styles vary depending on price and specifications.

best to go to a few outdoor/mountain/climbing type stores to get the best info and range.

sorry i can't be more specific; but i dont know alot about this equipment - only have limited knowledge.

enjoy the winter - i'm hoping to get over for some runs this year too...

thanks for your question;
lisa
